If you have searched for why there is no cannabis delivery in your town, you are not the only one. It is one of the most common questions we get, and the short answer is that in Massachusetts the decision often comes down to the town you live in.
Massachusetts lets each town decide
Adult-use cannabis has been legal for adults 21 and over across Massachusetts since 2016, but state law leaves a lot of room for cities and towns to set their own rules. A community can vote on, or adopt local bylaws about, whether cannabis businesses can operate within its borders. That can include retail stores, cultivation, and delivery. Some towns welcome these businesses, some set limits, and some have chosen not to allow them at all.
Local rules are also tied to what are called host community agreements, the arrangements a business makes with the town where it operates. Because every town handles this on its own terms, two neighbors only a mile apart can have very different answers.
What this means for delivery
Whether you can get delivery usually depends on the address, not on which company you pick. If your town limits or bans cannabis businesses, a licensed delivery service may not be able to bring an order to your door there. Rules can also change over time, as towns hold new votes and update their bylaws, so an answer that was true last year may not be true today.
How to check whether Dris delivers to you
- Open our where we deliver page. It lists the areas we serve across Boston and MetroWest.
- Look for your town. Many have their own page at drisbrands.com/cities/your-town-weed-delivery, for example our Natick delivery page.
- Enter your address at checkout on the menu. If we can deliver there, you will see your delivery windows.
If your town is not on the list, that is the rule for that address as we currently understand it. Our delivery area is updated as things change, so it is worth checking again later.
If we do deliver to you
Delivery from Dris is licensed and same-day. Orders are placed online or in the app, and the person who ordered needs to be there with a valid government-issued ID showing they are 21 or older. You can read more on our same-day weed delivery page.

On our where we deliver page, or by entering your address at checkout.
