Massachusetts Voted No on Question 8: What It Means | Dris

On November 3, Massachusetts voters said No on Question 8, the ballot measure that would have ended licensed adult-use cannabis sales in the state. The result was not close. Early unofficial returns show about three out of four voters, around 76%, voting No. Final results are not yet certified, so that number may shift slightly.

If you voted, talked to a friend about it, or just showed up: thank you. Here is what the vote means, and a small thank you from us.

What was Question 8?

Question 8 asked voters to repeal the law that allows adults 21 and older to buy cannabis from licensed stores. If it had passed, it would have:

  • ended licensed adult-use retail sales and home growing,
  • kept limited possession and gifting,
  • kept the medical cannabis program, and
  • taken effect on January 1, 2028.

Because voters said No, none of that happens.

What changes for you? Nothing.

Licensed, regulated adult-use cannabis stays legal in Massachusetts for adults 21 and older. So does delivery from licensed stores like Dris. That means you can keep doing what you have been doing:

  • Order for delivery to your door in Boston and MetroWest. See where we deliver on our same-day delivery page.
  • Show a valid ID at the door. Every delivery is checked, every time.
  • Buy licensed, tested, labelled products. Everything on our menu comes from licensed Massachusetts producers.

Why this vote mattered

A licensed market is a market with rules: products are tested and labelled, sellers check ID, and adults know what they are buying. It also supports local jobs and small Massachusetts businesses. Voters chose to keep that system in place. Thank you for helping keep it that way.

Our thank you: $8 off
