At Dris Delivery, we’re all about helping you find the cannabis products that fit your lifestyle, whether you're looking to chill, create, focus, or drift off into a dreamy state of relaxation.
But one of the biggest factors behind how weed feels (and smells)? It all comes down to terpenes.
Let’s break down what terpenes are, how they work, and why they matter when choosing your next product from the Dris menu.
So... What Are Terpenes?
Terpenes are naturally occurring compounds found in many plants — not just cannabis. They’re responsible for the distinctive aromas and flavors of different strains. Think citrus, pine, lavender, spice, or gas — that’s all the work of terpenes.
But they do more than just smell nice. In cannabis, terpenes are believed to influence how a strain makes you feel, working together with cannabinoids like THC and CBD to shape the overall effect. This is often referred to as the "entourage effect."
How Terpenes Work with Cannabis
You may have heard people talk about “indica vs. sativa,” but the truth is, terpene content can give you a much better idea of how a product will actually make you feel. That’s why at Dris, we highlight top terpenes on many of our product pages with product descriptions, because they help guide your high.
Here are a few popular terpenes and what they’re known for:
- Limonene
Found in citrus peels. Known for uplifting, energetic effects and a zesty aroma. Great for mood elevation. - Myrcene
Earthy and musky. Found in mangoes and hops. This terpene is known for its calming, sedative properties — often found in indicas. - Caryophyllene
Peppery, spicy aroma. Also found in black pepper and cloves. It’s the only terpene that interacts directly with your endocannabinoid system, which may help with inflammation or stress. - Linalool
Floral and lavender-like. Often used for calming or anti-anxiety effects — perfect for winding down. - Pinene
Fresh pine scent. Known for alertness and focus. Often found in sativa-dominant strains.
Why You Should Pay Attention to Terpenes
Ever tried two different strains with the same THC content… but had completely different experiences? That’s where terpenes come in. THC gives you the high, but terpenes shape the vibe; from euphoric and energizing to cozy and calm.
